These Servers Were Designed To Provide Real Time APRS Location And Tracking Data For A Variety Of Programs Used On This Website And At The Local Shack. They Are Still A Work In Progress.

K6IB APRS Database Servers


• Server System Description
  Servers 1 and 2 are Pentium III 966 Mhz computers runnning Fedora Core 3 Linux. Server 3 is an IRLP 'Micro-Node' hardware platform running Centos 4.6 Linux. The IGATE and APRS packet parsing functions are performed by custom Perl programs with the database functions being handled with MYSQL.
   
• Geographic Area Covered
  At this time all three servers are processing World Wide APRS data. City Location and Zip Code data are only available for stations located within the United States.
   
• Data History
  The database maintains the last 100 packets received from all stations except weather stations.
   
• APRS Data Processed
  While packet data and location from all reporting APRS stations is stored and available in the database, only position, tracking and IRLP object data is processed at this time. Weather and Message information is currently not processed.
   
• U.S. Cities Database
  The servers maintain a database of the location of over 24,000 cities and 34,000 Zip Codes in the U.S. for use in location applications.
